"Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Palestinian Prime Minister, Rami Hamdallah, will make an official visit to Jakarta to attend an international conference on Palestine, which is jointly organized by Indonesia, Japan, and Palestine.
Indonesia's Presidential Aide for International Relations, Teuku Feizasyah, remarked in a press conference here on Wednesday that this will be Hamdallah's first visit following his appointment in June 2013.
Indonesian President Susilo Yudhoyono has so far received Palestine's President, Mahmoud Abbas, on two earlier occasions in Jakarta, which was in October 2007 and May 2010.
Yudhoyono and Hamdallah are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting on February 29 to discuss bilateral cooperation in various fields such as economy, politics, and socio-culture.
The two leaders will also discuss the latest developments, especially in the Middle East.
On the occasion, Yudhoyono will also reiterate Indonesia's commitment to continually supporting the independence and sovereignty of Palestine, Faizasyah noted.
The 2nd Conference on Cooperation Among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) is a forum aimed at increasing contribution of participating countries to the Palestinian national development efforts, especially through capacity-building programs.
This time, the conference will be co-chaired by Palestine, Japan, and Indonesia.
In the meantime, Yudhoyono is scheduled to give his opening speech at the event. The Business Forum and Trade Expo will be concurrently held alongside the CEAPAD conference on March 1-2.
"Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah's visit is very significant for consolidating the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Palestine following the formation of a new government in Palestine," Faizasyah emphasized.
He remarked that the official visit of the Palestinian prime minister and also the CEAPAD II were expected to strengthen the Indonesia-Palestine bilateral relations, including strengthening joint efforts to improve Palestine's capacity, which is in line with Indonesias resolute to support Palestine in its efforts to achieve independence and sovereignty.
