There is no hurdles in the relations between Indonesia and Iran."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has invited his Iranian counterpart President Hassan Rouhani to make a state visit to Indonesia.
Yudhoyono handed over the invitation via visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif here on Friday.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, who accompanied Zarif at the meeting with Yudhoyono described as excellent relations between the two countries.
"There is no hurdles in the relations between Indonesia and Iran," Marty said.
He said during his visit to the country Zarif discussed with Indonesian leaders ways to promote cooperation between the two countries in economy, technology and energy.
He said the two countries also discussed global issues including Syrian conflict.
The two countries agree that the Syrian conflict should be settled peacefully through diplomacy.
"Violence would only give rise to extremism," he said.
Later in the day Zarif said Iran was ready to expand cooperation with Indonesia especially in research and technology.
"We hope trade and investment cooperation between the two countries could be promoted," he told a discussion here.
He said Iranian oil company Iran Nakhle Barani Pardis (NBP) recently signed an initial agreement with Indonesian company PT Kreasindo Resources to carry out feasibility study on plan to build oil refinery in Java.
