Head of Singapores Foreign Election Committee Mirza Nurhidayat told ANTARA in Batam on Monday the committee had sent the special ballots for voting through the post last week.
According to Mirza, the General Elections Commission (KPU) gives Indonesian citizens who live abroad and cannot go to the polls the opportunity to vote in the special ballots and send it to the Indonesian Embassy through the post service.
"The votes that are sent through post will be counted after the election day on April 9, during the period of April 10 to 15, since the counting of the votes is not on the same date," Mirza said.
The 100 thousand Indonesian citizens have confirmed that they will vote at the 36 polling booths at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore on Sunday, April 6.
The election committee in Singapore chose Sunday, which is also a holiday for Indonesias migrant workers, to seek higher participation from them to vote.
Mirza added that the embassy does not provide pickup facilities since the Indonesian Embassy is located in the center of the city, which can be reached easily from all directions.
"Indonesian Embassy in Singapore was located at Chatsworth Road, which can be reached through MRT and buses," he said. (*)
