Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Rupiah closes stronger on Monday gaining 57 points against the US dollar on doubt about US economic prospects, analysts said.

In inter-bank transaction rupiah traded at the level of 11,368 per dollar from 11,425 per dollar earlier.

Demand for the US dollar fell on expectation of a decline in the US manufacturing data, chief researcher of Monex Investindo Futures Ariston Tjendra said .

Ariston said the market players had well anticipated the risk of tapering off by the Fed that risky currencies including rupiah continued the gain.

"The risk, however, is always there in the financial market," he said.

The countrys potential economic growth also contributed to the rupiah strengthening.

Bank Indonesia (BI) predicted the countrys economic stability will be stronger in 2014 compared with in 2013.(*)
