"PPPs support for Gerindra is a support without any conditions. The PPP will not ask for any position, such as the vice president or minister," PPP General Chairman Suryadharma Ali said when he announced PPPs support to the Gerindra at the PPP headquarters here on Friday.
On Friday, the PPP through its general chairman Suryadharma Ali declared its support for Prabowo Subianto and the Gerindra. The support indicates a coalition between the two political parties.
Suryadharma Ali said the support of the PPP for the Gerindra and its presidential candidate Prabowo was sincere. It did not have any transactional condition.
"The support of the PPP is for the interest of the nation in the future. I hope that all PPPs ranks and files from the Central Executive Board to those in the countrys remote areas or smallest branches will support the victory of Prabowo in the July 9 presidential election," Suryadharma Ali said.
Suryadharma Ali said the support of the PPP for the Gerindra was the partys decision and therefore there was no one in the party who was against it.
"The PPP views Prabowo as a suitable figure who can lead Indonesia to a better future," he said.
Meanwhile, Gerindras Chief Patron Prabowo Subianto, who attended the event where the decision was announced, said he was touched by the support of the PPP, which had set no terms of any kind.
He said such a support was scarce and reflected a genuine statesmanship.
