Samarinda, East Kalimantan (Antara News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will commission 29 projects in East Kalimantan in June 18-19.

The projects are part of the Master Plan for Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI), East Kalimantan Governor Awang Faroek Ishak said here on Thursday.

"We will check all preparation for the commissioning of the projects by the president," Awang Faroek said.

He said the president will inaugurate the ground breaking ceremony of some of the projects to mark the start of construction and commission other projects already built.

He said almost all of the projects to be commissioned have been ready for operation.

He said the projects are expected to serve as a milestone of development in East Kalimantan as most of the projects are part of the MP3EI scheme.

Among the projects to be commissioned include new terminals of the Sultan Aji Muhammad Sultan Sulaiman Sepinggan airport of Balikpapan, Long Bawandi air port in the regency of Nunukan, Long Apung airport in the regency of Malinau, and the Data Dawai airport in the regency of Mahulu.

Ground breaking ceremonies would be inaugurated for the campuses of the Kalimantan Technology Institute in Balikpapan, and the Indonesian Fine Arts Institute in Tenggarong, Kutai Kartanegara. ***2*** (AS/H-YH)
