I have no right to do that. I understand regulations and the ethics."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who is also general chairman of Democratic Party (PD), said it was Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa who planned to present their vision and mission in front of PD cadres.

"I have never asked, let alone obliged presidential candidates to present their vision and mission in front of me," Yudhoyono said on his Twitter account on Thursday.

Yudhoyono made the statement in connection with the allegations that Yudhoyono, both in his capacity as the president or as chairman of the ruling Democratic Party, asked a pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates to present their vision and mission.

Prabowo and Hatta are pairing up to contest in the upcoming presidential elections on July 9, 2014.

"I have no right to do that. I understand regulations and the ethics," Yudhoyono stressed.

He said what was right was that the Prabowo-Hatta duo had written to the PD leader asking for a time to present the mission and vision. "It was their right," he added.

Yudhoyono said in a national leadership meeting of the PD, he had stressed that its cadres will vote for a pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates who had the same vision and mission as that of the PD.

He hoped that there will be no negative campaign against the Prabowo-Hatta presidential-vice presidential candidates plan to present their vision and mission before the PD cadres.

"To win the contest, success teams should focus on assisting their candidates in effectively communicating with the people," he said.

He added that black campaigns will not be effective.

Currently, there are two presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs, Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla and the Prabowo-Hatta Rajasa, who will contest in the July 9 presidential election.

The Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo is supported by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), the National Democrat Party (Nasdem), the National Awakening Party (PKB), and the Peoples Conscience Party (Hanura) with 207 seats or 36.96 percent of the House of Representatives (DPR)s 560 seats.

The Prabowo-Hatta duo is supported by the Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra), the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party, the Prosperous Justice Party, the United Development Party (PPP), and the Crescent and Star Party (PBB) with 292 seats or 52.14 percent in the parliament.***1***
