Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The rupiah value fell on the closing trade on Friday trading at the level of 11,674 per US dollar from 11,632 earlier.

Market players chose to hold dollar before the release of economic data on June 2 by the Central Bureau of Statistics, market observer Rully Nova from Bank Himpunan Saudara said.

They held dollar as a precaution in the event of the economic data were not up to expectation, Rully said.

He said if the economic data are in line with expectation the rupiah would certainly rise again.

Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowardojo said there was no cause for concern about inflation but expressed worry that the country would suffer another trade deficit.

Rully said he believd rupiah would not fall too deeply as Bank Indonesia would intervene. (*)
