The pair defeated the host duo Hirokatsu Hashimoto/Noriyasu Hirata 21-8, 21-10 in the semi-finals in Tokyo on Saturday, to storm into the final being played on Sunday.
"We do not want to comment on the game just now. Our opponents made a lot of unforced errors," Ahsan said about his victory, according to the All Indonesia Badminton Association press release.
"Hashimoto/Hirata made a lot of unforced errors today. I think they were not at their best," Hendra said.
The victory on Saturday changed the score to 2-0 in favor of the Indonesian pair against the Japanese.
Meanwhile, Indonesias other mens doubles pair, Angga Pratama/Rian Agung Saputro failed to make it an all-Indonesia final, after they lost to Korean pair Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong 16-21, 14-21 in the other semi-final on Saturday.
The final between Hendra/Ahsan and Lee/Yeo is expected to be tight. Hendra/Ahsan, who have been defeated by the Korean pair thrice since last year were able to take revenge last May during the Thomas Cup event.
"It is hoped that their victory in the Thomas Cup could be to their advantage when they meet Lee/Yoo in the final. We must be more prepared to be stretched, as they would certainly also wish to beat us. Thank God, our stamina is still okay," Ahsan said.
The final match at 2pm Tokyo time or 12.00 hours West Indonesia Time offers US$250,000 in total prize money.
