"It has nothing to do with the 12-kg LPG cylinder. Karens resignation is purely related to the fact that she will be a lecturer at Harvard University," he informed journalists here.
Karen resigned from Pertamina because she wanted to pursue a career outside the oil and gas firm and to take care of her family, Dahlan stated, adding that he had received her letter informing of her resignation and agreed to her request.
Pertaminas shareholders could not stop her from exiting the company.
According to Antara, Pertamina had planned to increase the 12-kg LPG cylinder price on July 1, 2014, to cover the companys losses, but the plan was then delayed due to the Ramadan fasting month and Idul Fitri holidays.
After the Idul Fitri holidays, the companys management continued with its plan to increase the price for the 12-kg LPG cylinder from Rp one thousand per kilogram to Rp6,944 per kilogram from August 15, 2014.
The government, however, is yet to give its approval to Pertaminas proposal.
