Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Muhammad Farazandeh has expressed his hope that the annual Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) would continue since it is useful in protecting the stability of democracy in the Asia Pacific region.

"The continuation of BDF in the years to come is really recommended because of its positive actions for Indonesia to maintain the stability of democracy," Farazandeh said here on Saturday.

He noted that Iranian officials from the president, foreign minister, and representatives of the foreign minister have attended the annual forum of democracy in Bali since it was first held.

"We consider that the initiatives to achieve democracy refer to stability and peace that can hold many countries together," he said.

According to Muhammad, Indonesia can change and adjust the forum to bring new ideas and the best ways to develop the ongoing process of democracy.

"When you have a democratic system in your country, then you will be joined in an association of democratic countries. It is like a big family in the world," said Farazandeh.

On another occasion, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dino Patti Djalal said that the participants of the Bali Democracy Forum hope that the forum will continue during the next government, led by Joko Widodo as president and Jusuf Kalla as vice president.

"In conclusion, almost all participating countries stated that this forum be continued, because in their views it is very helpful for them to learn new things from each functioning democracy in other countries, and this is the strength of the BDF," said Dino.
