Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo or popularly known as Jokowi has named Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi Foreign Affairs Minister of Indonesia during a press conference held here on Sunday.

Retno Marsudi is a career diplomat. She was born in Semarang, Central Java, on November 1962. She received a bachelor degree in International Relation from Gadjah Mada university, Yogyakarta in 1985.

She entered the Foreign Affairs Ministry right after obtaining her bachelor degree. She had a bright career at the ministry where in 2001 she was appointed the Director for Europe and America.

In 2005 she was sent to Oslo, Norway, as Ambassador of Indonesia. Before completing her task as an ambassador in Oslo, Retno was called back to Indonesia to fill in the position as the Director General for America and Europe Affairs.

Her latest position before taking the position as the Foreign Affirs Minister of Indonesia is ambassador of Indonesia to the Netherlands.
