"There are many clean figures from Kalimantan who have high integrity and deserve to become ministers. But, none of the new ministers hail from Kalimantan. That is not fair," Chairman of the Commission A of the Central Kalimantan Legislative Council (DPRD) Freddy Ering of the PDIP affirmed here on Monday.
Before Jokowi was elected president, he had pledged to provide an opportunity to a local figure, who represented the people of Kalimantan, to be part of the cabinet, Freddy pointed out.
Of the 34 new ministers announced on Sunday evening, 10 hailed from a region that did not significantly contribute to the election of Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla (JK) as president and vice president, respectively, he noted.
"So, Jokowi has not entirely fulfilled what he had pledged. Honestly speaking, we are very disappointed with the Jokowi-JK cabinet lineup," he stressed.
Five provinces in Kalimantan contributed significantly to the Jokowi-JK presidential tickets victory in the July 9 polls, he emphasized.
He further expressed doubts about the new governments commitment to improving the standard of living of the Indonesian people.(*)
