Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government has urged the Peoples Republic of China to open more access to Indonesias export products in a bid to strengthen economic relations in trade.
"We agreed to strengthen economic relations in trade. The Peoples Republic of China is our main partner in trade," Foreign Affairs Minister of Indonesia Retno L.P. Marsudi remarked here on Monday.
During the last decade, bilateral relations between Indonesia and China have grown positively, strongly, and progressively. The total value of bilateral trade reached US$52.45 billion in 2013, and Chinas direct investment in Indonesia is worth US$296.9 million through 411 projects.
"We agreed to strengthen our investment, in terms of Indonesian-Chinese and Chinese-Indonesian," she stated.
In addition, Indonesia has cooperated with China in the field of infrastructure.
"In this regard, we submitted the governments development plans to the foreign affairs minister of China," she noted.
Indonesia and China agreed to establish peace and stability in the region, which has affected the economy of both countries.
"It is our goal for the next five years," she emphasized.
Foreign Affairs Minister of China Wang Yi stated that Indonesia is a strategic partner, and his country looked forward to improving economic relations in trade.
"We want to participate in developing Indonesias economy. We want to cooperate with Indonesia in developing infrastructure, industrial zone, and natural resources," he added.(*)
