Beijing (ANTARA News) - The international community, including state leaders, businesspersons and foreign media, expressed enthusiasm to meet Indonesian President Joko Widodo during his visit to Beijing, China.

"Indonesia has a free and active foreign policy. So, I am free to have foreign friends anywhere. I want to have many friends," President Joko Widodo said here on Monday evening (Nov 10).

According to the Indonesian Embassy in China, a number of state leaders proposed meetings with the President, popularly known as Jokowi.

Jokowi had stated that the Indonesian foreign policy prioritized national interest.

"They also have their own interests. But we believe we should make efforts to establish friendships," Jokowi said.

Several corporate leaders sought to have discussions with the President on the sidelines of the CEO Summit, stated the embassy.

Many business leaders officially greeted the President and clicked his picture while he was giving a speech related to investments in Indonesia.

Some people even requested the President to pose for selfies with them.

Jokowi met with US President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang.

Earlier, on Sunday (Nov 9), the President also held bilateral meetings with leaders such as Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang.

Jokowi has been in China for the APEC Summit (November 8-11, 2014).

The President will now head for Myanmar to attend the ASEAN and East Asia Summits.(*)
