TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and international communications business within the NTT (NYSE:NTT) Group, announced today that its Shanghai Pudong Data Center in the Pudong Development Zone of Shanghai, China will begin operating on November 20. The center, NTT Com’s third data center in Shanghai, will offer approximately 2,600 m2 of server room, equivalent to 1,000 racks.
NTT Com expects its new facility to help meet the increasing demand for reliable, advanced data center services in the Chinese data center market, which grew 20% the previous year.
The Shanghai Pudong Data Center will be NTT Com’s first data center in China capable of total-service design, construction and operation for customers. With its full-scale capabilities, the facility will offer total management of service quality and cost for stable, global-scale and integrated services. Drawing on NTT Com’s expert technical know-how and strong track record of achievement, the data center will provide optimal data center services to customers in fields including finance, manufacturing and IT services. Please refer to the attached specifications sheet.
NTT Com is expanding its data center services in China to include not only colocation but also primary cloud services, such as its Enterprise Cloud. NTT Com offers next-generation data center services under the Nexcenterâ„¢ brand worldwide.
(1) High-performance data center offering 20% lower costs
The Shanghai Pudong Data Center is a highly disaster-proof facility featuring redundant power supply, air conditioning and communication route to deal with events such as power shutdowns, equipment failures or breakdowns during inspection. It offers 99.9999% power availability and 10kVA/rack high-density power provision. Highly efficient operation will enable the facility to lower its costs by approximately 20% compared to other data centers in the Shanghai area.
(2) High-reliability, low-latency and low-cost network environment
NTT Com’s new data center will utilize multiple networks of local communications providers under a carrier-neutral policy, resulting in network configuration with high availability. Customers will have access to NTT Com’s Arcstar Universal One™ data network service, a high-reliability, low-latency and low-cost global network environment that reaches 196 countries and regions. A stable communications environment built on direct network connections to communications companies across China will enable customers to avoid the problem of internet instability common in China due to inadequate connections among local carriers. Customers will also benefit from internet services using the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) for optimal connections among internet webs of various locations in China, and within Chinese VPN connection service.
(3) Compliance with ISOs/IEOs, such as ITIL
The Shanghai Pudong Data Center will offer 24/7 support in Japanese, English and Chinese. On-site technicians will help customers achieve secure, efficient operations based on adherence to ITIL system operation management guidelines, as well as ISO 27001 ISO 9001 ISO 20000. ITIL, a library of best practices for ICT service operation and management, forms part of the BS 15000 foundation for global ICT domain standards.
