Jakarta (ANTARA News) - South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Cho Tai-young said e-Government system of administration would help improve the performance of the Indonesian government.

The system to be adopted by the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would make the running of administration more effective and transparent, Cho said.

"The concept of e-Government is in line with the agenda of President Joko Widodo who is set to create a more effective and transparent system of administration," Cho said when opening a forum of cooperation between the two governments titled "Smarter Strategy for Better Government" here on Thursday.

Cho said the quality of e-Government system of South Korea which won the highest rate based on an e-government survey by the United Nations in 2010 and 2014 is recognized internationally.

"We also went through a process of trial and error, therefore, we want to share the knowledge with Indonesia," Cho said.

He stress the importance of e-government cooperation with the Indonesian government to strengthen relations between the two countries.

"This is the first forum between Indonesia and Korea under the new Indonesian government. Therefore, this is a meaningful forum and an extraordinary moment," Cho told Antara news agency.

In the same occasion, Minister for the Empowerment of State Apparatuses and Bureaucratic Reform Yuddy Chrisnandi said the benefit of e-Government implementation in Indonesia is the creation of an integrated management of government.

"This will make management data transparent as anyone could access and see the government projects , their budget and fund spending," Yuddy said.

According to Yuddy, management system of government agencies using information technology and communication separately will cause a swell in budget, he said

If all are combined in the same system , the management would be simpler and easier to access as all data needed are found in the same system, he said.

Yuddy said the Indonesian budget for information technology and communications reaches Rp14 trillion or US$1.2 billion, larger than Singapores spending of US$800 million and Britains budget of US$518 million.

"There will be a lot of cost saved if the system is integrated both in human resources, goods expense and capital," he said.

He said e-Government cooperation is in line with the instruction of President Joko Widodo who wants integration of all systems of information technology that the management of the administration is more effective, efficient and productive.

He said his office would prepare a draft policy for e-Government to provide the legal basis for the implementation of electronic government administration.

The system of e-Government is to be ready for access by the public in 2016 and to be operational optimally in 2019, he said.
