The election will be conducted after the two candidates undergo a fitness test, among others, on December 3 and 4.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The House of Representatives (DPR) has postponed the election of the leader of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to mid-January 2015.
The election will be conducted after the two candidates undergo a fitness test, among others, on December 3 and 4.
"We have agreed to postpone the election of the KPK leader after taking several factors into consideration," Chief of House Commission III, Benny K. Harman, said at the parliament building here on Thursday.
He added that the DPR is entering the final phase of its first session period, which will expire on Friday, December 5.
Moreover, the DPR is expected to elect the KPK leader within three months from October 16 when the then president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono nominated candidates for the leadership of the anti-graft body, he pointed out.
"Therefore, House Commission III decided to hold the election of the KPK leader at the end of the third month, which will be in mid-January 2015," Harman affirmed.
The KPK leader will be elected during the second session period after the DPR ends the current recess on January 11, he noted.
Harman, who is a member of the Democratic Party faction of the DPR, earlier stated that House Commission III was supposed to elect the KPK leader on Thursday.(*)
