"Other countries should respect the law effective in Indonesia. We are a sovereign country," Coordinating Minister for Law, Political Affairs and Security Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno said here on Monday.
Brazil and the Netherlands have recalled their ambassadors to Indonesia in protest of the execution on the notorious island of Nusakambangan off southern Central Java and in Boyolali in the same province.
Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders was reported to condemn the execution of Ang Kim Soei.
"The Netherlands condemns the execution of Mr Ang in Indonesia," Koenders was quoted as saying, adding, "that was a dramatic end for the family after years of uncertainty."
Six drug convicts were executed early on Sunday including Marco Archer Cardoso Moreira from Brazil, Namaona Denis from Malawi, Daniel Enemuo from Nigeria, Tran Thi Bich Hanh from Vietnam and Indonesian Rani Andrinai.
More convicts are expected to be executed soon as President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has said he would not give clemency for drug convict.
Government officials have described the country being in crisis with rampant drug traffic and that 40 to 50 drug users in Indonesia died every day.
The death sentence allowed by the countrys law, however, had triggered controversy.
