Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has yet to come to a decision regarding the resignation of Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Bambang Widjojanto.

"This is because the cabinet secretary has neither received the resignation letter, nor a notice from the anti-graft body or the Indonesian National Police," Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto said here on Monday.

"We have neither received any letter from the Indonesian National Police on the status of the suspect, nor Widjojantos resignation letter," he added.

So the president has not yet determined his stance on the case related to the Polri (Indonesian National Police) and the KPK, the cabinet secretary stated.

Regarding the case, Jokowi had earlier affirmed that there were no negative sentiments.

"I do not think there is any negative sentiment, but you can confirm it with those involved," President Jokowi told newsmen after inaugurating the one-stop integrated service of the Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) here on Monday.

The president emphasized that he will not intervene in the legal processes being undertaken by both the KPK and the Polri.

Moreover, Deputy Speaker of the parliament Fadli Zon believes that Jokowi took the right step by forming an independent team to help end the ongoing conflict between the police and the anti-corruption body.

"I think the president was right to seek advice from law experts and form an independent team to resolve this conflict," Zon stated here on Monday.

On Sunday night, President Jokowi invited law experts, including a former police chief and a former KPK chairman, to ask for their opinion on ways to end the conflict.

Tensions between the two law enforcement agencies began when the KPK named police Commissioner General Budi Gunawan as a suspect in an alleged case of corruption.

The KPKs decision was announced all of a sudden after the president named Gunawan a candidate to replace national police chief General Sutarman.

The parliament had held the standard procedure of a fit and proper test for the candidate just the previous day.

In a move that appeared to be an alleged retaliation, the Polri named KPK Deputy Chairman Bambang Widjajanto as a suspect and arrested him on charges of prompting a witness to give false testimony at a Constitution Court investigating a dispute over regional elections in Kotawarining, Kalimantan, in 2010.

Zon pointed out that the team needs to follow a working schedule to settle the problem post haste.

"Legal cases have to be settled legally. There should be no compromise unless it has a legal basis," he added.

The deputy speaker further noted that he hoped the conflict between the two law enforcement agencies could be ended soon.

"Legal processes are in progress. It is important to save the institutions of the police and the KPK," he stressed.

"No one is immune in this republic. Our constitution states that all citizens are equal before the law. However, it is important to ensure that there is no politicization or criminalization," Zon remarked.
