Three acting anti-corruption commissioners are competent: ex-chairman

Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - Three acting commissioners of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) appointed recently by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo are competent to fight corruption, stated former KPK deputy chief Busyro Muqoddas.

"The three are competent to become acting KPK commissioners," Busro remarked during a discussion titled, "Jokowi and the Future of Corruption Eradication" organized by the Institute for Research and Empowerment, here on Thursday.

The appointment of Johan Budi as acting KPK commissioner was the correct choice as he has worked with the anti-graft body for a long time, he pointed out.

"Johan Budi is my old colleague. He has good knowledge about the traditions of the KPK and is independent and reliable. Along with Mr Rukj and Seno Adji, he can carry out his new job well," he remarked.

When questioned about the appointment of Indriyanto Seno Adji as acting KPK commissioner, Busyro affirmed that as an academic, Seno would be able to perform his duties well.

"I do not know much about Mr Seno Adji, so it is difficult to comment on him," he stated.

He remarked that Taufiqurrahman Ruki, who was KPK chief for the 2003-2007 period, must prove that he is capable to lead the KPK.
