The special immigration lanes are expected to accelerate the checking of passports of the delegates, Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Airports Immigration Office Sutrisno said here on Saturday.
The fast-track immigration services are available in Terminal 2D and Terminal 2E. In the VIP and VVIP rooms, control machines are operating around the clock, manned by three immigration officers.
"Two special lanes for delegates to the AAC, including the heads of states/governments, have been operating since April 16," he revealed.
In addition, Chief of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airports Police Resort Senior Commissioner C. H. Patopoi stated that 2,200 joint security officers have been deployed to secure delegates to the AAC.
"We have set up a joint security command post with personnel from the police, military, Avsec and the presidential security unit (Paspampres)," he noted.
Some 32 heads of states or governments have confirmed their attendance at the AAC, to be held in Jakarta and Bandung, West Java, from April 19 to 24.
The event is expected to be attended by some 3.6 thousand delegates from 77 countries. Till Thursday, April 16, some 1,870 delegates had already been registered, the Foreign Affairs Ministry affirmed.
Moreover, around 480 businessmen have also expressed their willingness to attend the Asian-African Business Summit.
Events marking the AAC will include a senior officials meeting on April 19, a ministerial-level meeting on April 20, the Asian-African Business Summit on April 21, and the Asian-African Summit in Jakarta on April 22 and 23.
The heads of state will also participate in the historical walk event, which will be held in Bandung on April 24.
The AAC was first organized in Bandung in April 1955, at the initiative of Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma), Ceylon (Sri Lanka), India, and Pakistan.(*)
