Some heads of state/government, such as that of Myanmar, Malaysia, China, Angola, Vietnam, and South Africa, will use their own private planes.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Asian and African heads of state/government attending the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference (AAC) will leave for Bandung, West Java, by air on Friday.
The heads of state/government who will be attending the AAC historical walk in Bandung will either take private planes or airplanes provided by the Indonesian Government.
"We will use a number of airplanes to fly VVIP guests to Bandung," Yuri Thamrin, the director general for African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at the Jakarta Convention Center here on Thursday.
He noted that some heads of state/government, such as that of Myanmar, Malaysia, China, Angola, Vietnam, and South Africa, will use their own private planes.
"Some heads of state/government will use private planes. For example, Malaysia Prime Minister who did not attend the summit today will fly directly from Kuala Lumpur to Bandung," he explained.
Some heads of state/government will not be able to attend the 60th anniversary of the AAC and the historical walk in Bandung. They include Shinzo Abe of Japan, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam, Rami Al Hamdallah of Palestine, and Deputy Prime Minister of the Seychelles Danny Faure.
"Of course, their absence in Bandung will not reduce the solemnity of the 60th anniversary of the AAC," he added.
The 60th anniversary celebrations of the AAC are being held in Jakarta and Bandung from April 19 to April 24, 2015.
Thamrin pointed out that some 22 heads of state/government will take part in the AAC historical walk in Bandung.
They will walk from Savoy Homann Hotel to the Merdeka building via Jalan Asia Afrika road.
In the meantime, the Jakarta Police will survey and secure roads around Halim Perdanakusuma airport in Jakarta from where heads of state/government are to be flown to Bandung, West Java, for events that will be held as part of the 60th anniversary commemoration of the Asian-African Conference on Friday.
"Based on schedule, they will take off at 7.30 A.M. local time," Jakarta Traffic Police Director Senior Commissioner Risyafudin said here on Thursday.
Risyafudin noted that the heads of state will start at 6 A.M. for Halim Perdanakusuma airport from their hotels located in different places, such as Jalan MH Thamrin, Suddirman, HR Rasuna Said, SCBD, and Jalan Gotot Subroto.
Roads starting from their hotels to the airport will be closed to the general public from 6 A.M. to 7 A.M.
The sections of roads that will remain closed include Pejompongan-Patung Kuda-Traffic Light Sarinah-Hotel Indonesia Traffic Cicle-Semanggi that lead to Inner City Toll Road and Cawang exit toll gate.
According to plan, delegates will be flown to Bandung aboard three state planes provided by the Indonesian Government.
The 60th anniversary celebrations of the AAC in Bandung will mark the peak of the commemoration events after delegations and heads of state/government held meetings at the Jakarta Convention Center from April 19 to April 23, 2015.(*)
