Ambon (ANTARA News) - The Ambon Immigration Office in Maluku province repatriated 22 immigrants from Myanmar on Wednesday, according to its spokesman Nanang Koesdarjanto.

"The 22 immigrants from Myanmar were flown to Jakarta and then to their country of origin on Wednesday," Nanang stated here on Thursday.

He noted that following the repatriation of the immigrants from Myanmar, there are no other foreigners detained at the Ambon Immigration Office.

"However, we are still monitoring several foreigners aboard a fishing boat, which is currently docked at the Tantui fishing port here," he remarked.

According to Nanang, the repatriation of 22 immigrants from Myanmar was carried out in cooperation with the Myanmar Embassy in Jakarta.

"They were arrested in December last year after they were caught conducting illegal fishing in Arafura waters," Nanang added.
