We would not give anything."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Philippine government requests Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) for death row convict Mary Jane Veloso, a Philippine woman convicted for drug trafficking.
"The Philippines has made a request for MLA," Tony Tribagus Spontana, head of the Legal Information center of the Attorney General office, said after the visit of 13 representatives of the Philippine government to Attorney General HM Prasetyo here on Wednesday.
The 13 representatives are from the Philippines Ministry of Justice, Attorney General office, and Foreign Ministry.
The request consists of a number of items including request for information about Mary Jane related to human traffic, access to document and object of evidence in Mary Jane case.
Tony said the MLA request is still studied by the ministry of justice and human rights as the authority representing the Indonesian government.
The court investigation in the Philippines of human traffic case with Maria Kristina as the suspect is expected to run objectively, he said.
"We would not give anything. The (court) decision in the Philippines is not an attempt to set free Mary Jane," he said.
The official answer would from the Ministry of Justice and Huiman Right as the central authority, he added.
The human traffic case has been in the phase of official investigation with Maria Kristina as the suspect. The dossiers have were already handed over to the court on July 10," he said.
Mary Jane should have been executed together with a number of other death row convicts in Nusakambanagn, Cilacap, earlier this year.
He execution was postponed appeal from the Philippine authorities on human traffic suspect Mary Kristina saying that Mary Jane was a victim of human traffic.
The 13 representatives of the Philippine government plan to visit Mary Jane in the Wirogunan prison in Yogjakarta on Friday.
The visit would be facilitated by the attorney general office through the Yogyakarta high prosecution office in cooperation with the regional law and human right office and police.
"Two officials from the attorney general office Sunarta and Firdaus Dewilmar will accompany them," Tony said.
