Buddhist self-purification ritual to welcome Lunar New Year
A number of Buddhist monks lead prayers during the Pao Oen ceremony in the courtyard of the Tien Kok Sie Temple, Pasar Gede, Solo, Sunday (January 19, 2025). The ritual of releasing sparrows as well as spreading fish seeds is also held by the local temple management as a form of unity with nature and a process of self-purification to welcome the Lunar New Year celebration.
