Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Denmark have extended their green energy cooperation with the signing of the third protocol to amend the memorandum of understanding (MoU) concerning renewable energy and energy conservation.
The protocol signing event was held at the office of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Jakarta on Monday.
"The signing is part of the extension of what was done 10 years ago," Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said here on Monday.
He then underlined the uncertain geopolitical and geoeconomic conditions that have forced all parties to think about which countries can become their cooperation partners.
Moreover, there have been questions related to the commitment of countries to implementing the Paris Agreement after the withdrawal of the United States (US) from the climate accord.
"Nevertheless, hopefully, by signing this MoU, there will be many conveniences in the future that we can get together," the minister said.
Meanwhile, Danish Foreign Affairs Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said that their 10-year cooperation has paved the way for Indonesia and Denmark to establish a further strategic partnership.
The minister acknowledged that the energy transition to support the development of the green economy not only offers opportunities but also challenges, including in terms of financing.
He further said that Denmark is one of the vanguards of green economy financing and is ready to support Indonesia through joint collaboration in developing new and renewable energy.
He also expressed Denmark's commitment to sharing experiences and knowledge to support Indonesia in adopting renewable energy.
