Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government will focus on the downstreaming and renewable energy sectors to achieve the investment target of Rp13,032 trillion in the next five years.

The investment value, according to Investment Minister and chief executive of the Danantara Investment Management Agency, Rosan Roeslani, is targeted to support the achievement of 8 percent economic growth for the 2025–2029 period.

"One of the strategies to achieve this target is industrial downstreaming, which contributes 23 to 24 percent of total investment, both through domestic investment and foreign direct investment," he said at the Economic Insight 2025 event at the Indonesia Stock Exchange here on Friday.

"Not only limited to the mineral sector, downstreaming will also be expanded to the agriculture, fisheries, and plantation sectors to create greater added value for the national economy," he added.

He said that the government is targeting net zero emissions by 2060, while currently, the installed capacity of new renewable energy in Indonesia is still at 14.43 gigawatts (GW), far from the potential of 3,700 GW.

"We continue to encourage investment in this sector (renewable energy), especially in solar, hydro, and geothermal energy. Geothermal in Indonesia, especially in Java and Sumatra, has the largest reserves in the world and will be one of the priorities for future development," he informed.

He said that in line with the investment strengthening strategy, the government will maximize the role of Danantara, which is expected to attract more investment from the private sector and provide certainty to both domestic and foreign investors.

"Danantara does not just carry out investment, but also invites national and foreign investors to invest (in Indonesia). With the government's involvement, this will increase investor confidence to enter Indonesia," Roeslani added.
