Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto is confident that Indonesia will rise as a great country in the next few years.

He expressed this optimism during his speech at the commemoration of Pancasila's 80th anniversary in Jakarta on Monday.

His confidence is supported by Indonesia's status as the world's fourth most populous country and its position as the 16th-largest economy globally.

"Our wealth is truly abundant. In the next few years, I am confident that Indonesia will rise as a great country," he stated.

To become a great country, the president stressed the importance of eradicating corruption and enforcing discipline among state officials who abuse their authority and leak state assets.

"However, there are still many thieves who steal people's money, for which I am determined to discipline them all," Prabowo affirmed.

He also expressed regret over many corruption cases within the government.

Hence, the head of state reminded his staff to work on restoring and improving public trust in state officials.

"I use this opportunity to appeal to all elements entrusted by the people to return to the values of Pancasila, the noble values of our nation's struggle. Let us use this momentum to improve ourselves and the system," he remarked.

The 80th anniversary of Pancasila falls on June 1, with the official ceremony held on June 2 at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Jakarta and led directly by President Prabowo Subianto.

The event was attended by by the fifth President Megawati Soekarnoputri, who also chairs the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP); Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka; sixth vice president Try Sutrisno; 10th and 12th vice president Jusuf Kalla; speaker of People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Ahmad Muzani; speaker of the Indonesian Regional Representative Council (DPD) Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin; and ministers of the Red and White Cabinet.
