Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Pancasila, the national ideology, emerged from a vital consensus among the founding fathers, marking a significant achievement that laid the foundation for uniting the country amid vast diversity.

In his address as inspector of the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of Pancasila, held at the Pancasila Building in Jakarta on Monday, President Prabowo reminded the public that the ideology has long served as a unifying force for Indonesia’s culturally diverse society.

"Today, we all are here to once again commemorate the birth of Pancasila—a historic moment when our founding fathers formulated the foundation of our nation. It was at that very moment that this nation achieved a great consensus," he stated.

The president then highlighted that Pancasila had proven instrumental in integrating people from thousands of islands, diverse ethnic groups, religions, and languages into a single nation: Indonesia.

"Owing to the wisdom of our founding fathers, we now stand together amid differences. We are united in diversity," he stressed.

Prabowo affirmed that Pancasila remains a relevant and powerful guide for the nation as it navigates global challenges and uncertainties.

The head of state then underlined that this year's theme of celebration—"Solidifying the Pancasila Ideology towards a Great Indonesia"—embodies a shared national commitment to welcoming Indonesia's centennial year in 2045.

Bearing this in mind, Prabowo emphasized the importance of safeguarding and practicing the values to ensure they remain the cornerstone of the nation's journey.

The president made these remarks in the presence of high-ranking officials from his ministerial cabinet, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the National Police (Polri).
