Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto served as inspector of a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the national ideology, Pancasila, held at the Pancasila Building in Central Jakarta on Monday morning.

In his address, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of safeguarding and practicing the noble values upheld by Pancasila, ensuring they remain the cornerstone of the nation's journey.

The ceremony commenced at 9:30 a.m. local time with a trumpet fanfare. Marine Colonel Achmad Hadi Al-Hasny, commander of the West Nusa Tenggara Navy Base, acted as the ceremony commander.

With the theme "Solidifying the Pancasila Ideology towards a Great Indonesia," the event featured a reading of the Pancasila text, followed by art performances highlighting Indonesia’s cultural richness and national unity.

To mark the occasion nationwide, the central government directed local governments, Indonesian representative offices abroad, government bodies, and educational institutions to hold similar ceremonies at 7 a.m. local time.

Attendees at the ceremony comprised Megawati Soekarnoputri, the Indonesian fifth president and current chairperson of the steering council of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP); 10th vice president Jusuf Kalla; and 6th president Try Sutrisno.

Moreover, the ceremonial event also drew participation from multiple ministers, leaders of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri), community figures, students, and pupils.

Seated in the front row of the VIP guest section were Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono; TNI Commander General Agus Subianto; Polri Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo; and Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra.

Also in attendance were Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati; Culture Minister Fadli Zon; Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian; Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin; Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto; and National Economic Council (DEN) Chairman Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

A flag-lowering ceremony is scheduled for around 4 p.m. local time, but it will take place without guests in attendance.
