Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) on Tuesday reported that it disbursed Rp154.11 trillion (US$9.47 million) toward scholarships and other education grants in the period from 2010 to June 2025.
“In detail, the endowment for education account to Rp126.12 trillion (US$7.75 billion), for research at Rp12.19 trillion (US$749 million), for universities at Rp10 trillion (US$615 million), and cultural activities at Rp5 trillion (US$307.5 million),” LPDP president director Andin Hadiyanto told Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR) during a meeting on Monday.
He said that in the 2013–2025 period, the LPDP provided scholarships to 55,492 recipients, comprising 40,284 master’s students, 11,829 doctoral students, and 3,379 students pursuing medical specializations.
Meanwhile, the number of current scholarship recipients reached 34,373 as of June 30, 2025.
They include 18,630 recipients provided a full scholarship by the LPDP and 8,674 provided a joint grant by the LPDP, the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry, and the Higher Education, Science, and Technology Ministry.
They further include 7,069 recipients provided a joint scholarship by the LPDP and the Religious Affairs Ministry.
Under the joint grant program with the education ministries, the LPDP provided scholarships for a combined 24,967 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students, and another 548,911 recipients pursuing non-degree programs during the 2021–2025 period.
Meanwhile, through the joint grant with the Religious Affairs Ministry, 11,546 scholarships were given to those enrolled in degree programs and 29,499 to students pursuing non-degree education.
According to Hadiyanto, the LPDP has also provided research funding for 1,199 completed projects and 2,261 ongoing projects, inclusive of joint grants with other ministries.
The LPDP’s endowment to universities supported 7,935 academic publications, 1,849 visiting professors, 576 post-doctoral fellows, and 6,800 exchange students at 21 public universities with legal entity status (PTN-BH).
Meanwhile, endowments for cultural activities were granted to 928 entities in the cultural sector, including individuals and communities, and covered 27,650 people, he added.
Hadiyanto affirmed that the endowment’s multiplier effect in terms of the “social, economic, and change of mindset” has been 5.39 times the grant value, as calculated by the return on scholarship investment (ROSI) benchmark.
“Even compared with the Chevening or World Bank scholarship, the LPDP yielded a higher outcome,” Hadiyanto added.
He informed that in 2026, the LPDP will target to grant 14,160 scholarships, fund 42 research projects, provide endowments for 23 PTN-BHs, and organize cultural activities based on current priorities.
