Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Youth and Sports Ministry, in partnership with the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP), has launched a new sports scholarship program.

This program is open to sports enthusiasts, including active athletes, former athletes, and sports professionals, allowing them to pursue master's and doctoral degrees, both domestically and internationally, without university restrictions.

"God willing, this will last forever. Hence, as long as the LPDP program exists, this sports scholarship will always be available. It is not just an annual program," Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo stated during a press conference here on Wednesday.

Ariotedjo noted that the scholarship program will serve as a stepping stone for the development of national sports.

The sports scholarship program also demonstrates the government's genuine commitment to making sports not just a momentary achievement but a part of the sustainable development of superior human resources.

Meanwhile, he affirmed that a sports scholarship scheme for undergraduate sports students is currently being developed.

LPDP Acting President Director Sudarto highlighted that this program is designed to be selective, adaptive, and inclusive, offering two pathways: achievement improvement and recognition.

"We believe that education is the key to success. This sports scholarship is a form of strategic inclusion in the national education funding system, providing space for sports professionals to continue developing and inspiring," Sudarto explained.

He stated that the Youth and Sports Ministry will establish the qualification criteria for recipients of the sports scholarship program.
