... to get the free medical treatment, they just need to show their identity cards...Kudus, Central Java (ANTARA News) - The administration of Kudus Regency in Central Java has shown a positive trend over the past seven years as indicated by the improving welfare of the people and outcomes of various development programs.
"There has been meaningful improvement in various development sectors, including infrastructure, education, and health," Kudus Regent, Musthofa, said on the sidelines of a seminar on the reflection on his seven-year-long leadership here recently.
Speaking at the seminar initiated by the People Consortium for Clean Kudus (KMKB), he elaborated what his administration has done to the people over the past seven years under his leadership.
Talking about the seminar, KMKB Chairman, Sururi Mujib, said he organized it as a support for the district government's efforts to serve the people over the past seven years.
The seminar was also held in connection with the 70th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day, he added.
The district government serves its people with free giving birth expenses and funeral service fees. It also offers free educational and health care services in an effort to improve the quality of life of all residents, Mustopha said.
According to Musthofa, the health care program has paved the way for the residents of Kudus District to enjoy a free medical treatment in any recommended hospital's Class III rooms.
"In order to get the free medical treatment, they just need to show their identity cards," he said.
In education sector, his administration has implemented the 12-year compulsory education program for all children in Kudus by using sufficient funds that have been allocated in the district government's annual budget.
As a result of this program, there are no valid reasons for parents not to enable their children to complete their formal education from the primary to senior high school level, he said.
For this year's budget, the government had even allocated Rp30 billion addition to the School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds totaling Rp20 billion that the central government had given to Kudus District, he said.
In achieving the objectives of its educational program, the district government also offers scholarship schemes to students of public schools, while the privately-run schools will be given a 20-percent subsidy.
This year, there will also be scholarships for nine students who are eligible to pursue their study at university. "Any eligible people are welcomed to apply for the scholarship," Musthofa said.
In developing and strengthening local people's economy, the district government also takes care of the micro, small and medium enterprises by offering them a non-collateral loan (KUP) scheme, he said.
