The head of state stated that he would immediately write a letter to the House of Representatives (DPRs) Commission III overseeing legal affairs that would conduct a fit-and-proper test to select five of the eight newly submitted names and two other names that had been given earlier.
The five candidates that the Houses Commission III members would select through a fit-and-proper test would replace the five KPK commissioners who would end their leadership term in December 2015.
"The letter will soon be written and sent to the DPR," President Jokowi noted.
The names submitted by Chairperson of the KPK Selection Committee Destry Damayanti to the president comprise Saut Situmorang, the expert staff of the National Intelligence Agency chief; Surya Chandra, the director of the Trade Union Center, and an independent lawyer and senior lecturer at the Atmajaya University; Alexander Marwata, an anti-corruption courts judge; Basaria Panjaitan, a police officer; Agus Rahardjo, the head of the National Procurement Agency (LKPP); Sujanarko, the director of the KPKs cooperation of Inter Commission and institution network directorate; Johan Budi S.P., the KPKs current acting chief; and Laode Muhammad Syarif, a lecturer at the Hasanuddin Universitys Law School.
Busyro Muqoddas and Roby Arya Brata were the two other names that were submitted earlier.
Damayanti noted that none of the eight names were on any police list of suspects. (*)
