A huge amount of video-on-demand services have been launched in Asia this year with strong support from telecoms operators. Earlier this year, SingTel partnered with Sony and Warner to launch HOOQ in the Philippines, while Catcha Group's iFlix, which includes PLDT as one of its investors, has launched services in the Philippines and Malaysia.

Netflix has also confirmed that it will be launching its video-streaming services in various major Asian markets with the plan to increase its presence across the continent with Japan having obtained the service already with Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore follow on in early 2016.
More localised content means more capacity is needed to meet the demand of the content providers. This in turn creates both challenges and opportunities for the wholesale telecom operators within the region with new infrastructure required and new investment opportunities.
Capacity Asia 2015, brings together the entire Asian wholesale telecoms industry to come together to secure new business and meet the latest major player and smaller start-up organisations from across the community. Taking place on 30 November - 2 December in Bangkok, the 12th annual conference will bring together 500+ senior level wholesale telecoms executives from 200+ global organisations.
