Bank Indonesia`s financial report has been audited regularly in the past 13 years and so far BPK found no deviation from the law, Agus said.Mamuju, W Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowardojo dismissed suggestion of any irregularities in the management of the central bank that requires audit by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
Bank Indonesias financial report has been audited regularly in the past 13 years and so far BPK found no deviation from the law, Agus said here on Thursday.
"The result has always been natural without exception and are always made public," he said.
Agus made the statement in reaction to call from the faction of the ruling party PDIP , for BPK to audit the performance of Bank Indonesia.
The faction blamed poor performance of the central bank for the shrinking value of rupiah.
Agus pointed out the central bank reported to the House of Representatives and the president and the report is open for discussion.
"That is our explanation for any request that Bank Indonesia had to be audited," he said.
Chairman of the PDI-P faction at the House of Representatives Hendrawan Supratikno said request for audit of Bank Indonesia is in line with the law No. 15 of 2004 and the law No15 iof 2005.
Hendrawan said the national currency has lost 18 percent of its value so far in 2015 as against a loss of only less than 2 percent in 2014.
Bank Indonesia has always pledged to carry out market intervention to shore up rupiah , but the reality is not as expected, he said.
"The shrinking rupiah has wide impact -- the governments repayment debt burden increase ," he said.(*)
