Manado (ANTARA News) - North Sulawesi posted a strong growth of 49.77 percent in export value in August 2015 compared with the previous month.

The province exported US$94.58 million worth of goods in August up from US$63.15 million in July in the same year.

North Sulawesi exports no oil and gas.

Head of the provincial office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Faizal Anwar said animal and vegetable fats and oils were the largest contributors to the export earning, accounting for US$59.77 million or 63.2 percent of the total exports of the province.

The largest part of the exports were made to the commodities were the United States to which exports were valued at US$27.03 million or 28.58 percent of the total export value of the province.

The exports in August brought the provinces total export earning to US$722.85 million in the first 8 months of the year.

However, year-on-year, the exports in August fell 14.59 percent from US$110.74 million in the same months in 2014.
