"Indonesia is no longer a drug market but has become the hub for international drug networks," the attorney general said in Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday.
According to Prasetyo, Indonesia is becoming a hub for international drug networks as several foreign nationals were involved in various drug-related criminal acts in the country.
He even pointed out that 12 of the 14 death row inmates in narcotic cases who were executed some time ago were foreign citizens.
Since the drug-related criminal acts were carried out across national borders, he opined that the perpetrators might have possibly been well organized.
"The circulation of narcotics has greatly endangered our future generations," he affirmed.
Regarding a plan to further execute the other death row drug convicts, Prasetyo chose to not disclose further details. "We are still concentrating on issues of economic improvement," he added.
