"Eight climbers were evacuated by a joint team through Baderan. They are in good condition," Head of Emergency and Logistics Response for Jembers Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Heru Widagdo, stated here on Tuesday.
According to Widagdo, the climbers are from Jember, Surabaya, and Jakarta.
"Tilang, Nizar, Jared, and Rizal are the four climbers from Jember," he noted.
The names of the four climbers are also listed in the guest book at the entrance. However, based on information received from the climbers who could communicate through a handy talky, ten climbers are still trapped in the fires.
Widagdo pointed out that Jembers BPBD and Search and Rescue Agency have deployed personnel to evacuate the climbers.
"The most important priority is to evacuate the climbers safely," he emphasized.
The Jember BPBD has received information that the ten climbers from Jakarta were trekking the Argopuro Mountain through Bremi, Probolinggo District.
"However, we will verify the information," he noted.
Meanwhile, Head of the Jember Chapter of the East Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) Sunandar Trigunajasa said no hotspots were detected on the Argopuro Mountain.
"The officers have checked the location in Cikasur. There are no hotspots on the mountain. We continue to monitor the situation," he remarked.
Trigunajasa stated that the personnel had been deployed to monitor and observe the mountain.(*)
