FIFA will find a solution to solve the Indonesian football crisis."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A delegation from the Federation International of Football Association (FIFA) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has expressed its commitment to solve the Indonesian football crisis.

The statement was made by Agum Gumelar from the Honorary Board of the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) after meeting the representatives of FIFA and AFC at the PSSI office here on Monday.

"FIFA will find a solution to solve the Indonesian football crisis," Gumelar emphasized.

Gumelar noted that the representatives have urged the government to lift sanctions imposed on the PSSI in an effort to restore Indonesian football.

"FIFA and AFC will support the development of football in the country. They will play a better role," he affirmed.

Gumelar said the goodwill shown by FIFA should be considered by the government.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the PSSI Hinca Panjaitan stated that the delegation had called on the government to support the PSSI in organizing football matches. On the other hand, the PSSI should honor the government.

"This is the best opportunity for the government to explain about the Indonesian football crisis to the FIFA and AFC," he noted.

The two international football bodies were represented by James Johnson, Mariano V. Araneta, HRH Prince Abdullah Shah, Windsor John, Sanjeevan, Kozho Tashima, and Kazumi Shimizu.

Earlier, FIFA had gone ahead with its threat to ban Indonesia from international competitions after the government refused to lift a suspension imposed on the PSSI.
