Capacity building initiatives are aimed at strengthening Asia-Africa development cooperation ..."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government of Indonesia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will undertake several capacity building initiatives to strengthen development cooperation among the countries in Asia and Africa.
"Capacity building initiatives are aimed at strengthening Asia-Africa development cooperation, and cooperation on other fronts," Foreign Affairs Ministrys Director for Intra-Regional Cooperation of Asia Pacific and Africa (KSI Aspasaf), Benyamin Carnadi, remarked here on Tuesday.
According to him, capacity building initiatives are part of a series of such activities being undertaken by various countries in Asia and Africa in view of the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference and the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership (NAASP).
Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi will open these activities on November 11, 2015.
Carnadi pointed out that capacity building will be in four areas: aquaculture and fisheries, entrepreneurship, automotive engineering and tourism.
As for aquaculture and fisheries related initiatives, the Indonesian government will hold "International Workshop on Community-based Freshwater Aquaculture for Pacific and African Countries" in Sukabumi, West Java, from November 8 to 16, 2015.
The Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries will cooperate for this activity, which will involve 26 participants from Angola, Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Zambia, Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
Regarding entrepreneurship, an "International Workshop on Entrepreneurship for Pacific Countries" is being organized in Jakarta from November 8 to 12.
"This activity is part of the cooperation between the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Ciputra University Entrepreneurship Center," Carnadi said.
As for automotive engineering, Indonesia will hold an "International Training for Automotive Technicians for Pacific Countries" in Semarang, Central Java, from November 9 to 16.
In this activity, the Foreign Affairs Ministry will collaborate with the Center for Development of Vocational Training (BBPLK), Semarang Industry and PT Triangle Motorindo. Among the participants will be representatives from Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu and Palau, as well as Jayapura community inhabiting the border areas between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
For the tourism sector, Indonesia, as part of its capacity building activities, will organize an International Training for Tourism for border community in Jayapura from November 12 to 18.
