Therefore, do not just sit behind a desk."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo has ordered his ministers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the real on-field problems in a bid to improve the quality of bureaucratic and public services.
"Anomalies and distortions always occur on the ground. Therefore, do not just sit behind a desk," President Widodo was quoted by Presidential Communications team member Ari Dwipayana as telling his ministers while chairing the cabinet meeting here on Monday.
Dwipayana said the head of state had reminded the cabinet members of his governments commitment to making 2016 "the year of accelerating the achievements of the governments programs."
In this context, learning from the outcome of his recent visits to various parts of the country, President Widodo urged his ministers to pay serious attention to the development disparity in regions, and the difference in prices in Papua Province and Java Island.
"We must pay serious attention to provinces such as West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Papua, and Maluku. Please focus on the childrens nutrition, education, and health services," President Widodo emphasized.
According to Dwipayana, the head of state also touched on poverty alleviation and the need to continue the development of infrastructure projects to support ten main tourist destinations.
"Prepare good airports, including the improvement of runways and terminals, and seaports. Strengthen our arts and cultural performances by offering them creative design and choreography," he affirmed.
The promotion of Indonesias tourism industry should also be carried out along with the effort to strengthen the countrys branding, President Widodo said, adding that 17 ministries, which currently promote exports, need to build synergy and coordination among themselves.
Therefore, an integrated system was needed to support Indonesias trade, tourism, and investment promotions, President Widodo added.
