Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the bomb attacks and series of shooting in the business district of Jakarta on Thursday, resulting in the death of seven people, and injuring 20 others.

OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani sent his heartfelt condolence to the families of the victims of the attack and his wishes for the fast recovery of the injured, the OIC said in a statement posted on its official website and quoted by ANTARA here Friday.

Madani said he condemned in strongest terms the perpetration of this heinous act committed against the peaceful community of Jakarta.

He expressed his confidence in the Indonesian Governments efforts in bringing to justice the people behind the tragedy.

The Secretary General restated the principled position of the OIC that vigorously denounces all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all their forms and manifestations while it categorically rejects any justifications for terrorism.

In the meantime, Vietnams news agency VNA reported that Vietnam condemned terror attacks.

"We convey our deep sympathies to the Indonesian Government and families of the victims, and we strongly believe that masterminds behind the attacks will be punished properly," Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh said.

Another fellow ASEAN member country, The Philippines, also condemned the bomb and gun attacks in the capital city.

"The Philippines strongly condemns the attacks in Jakarta in the morning of Jan. 14 that claimed the lives of innocent people. We stand by in solidarity with our Indonesian brothers and sisters in this time of tragedy, Assistant Secretary Charles Jose, spokesperson for the foreign affairs ministry, was quoted as saying by Enquirer.net.(*)
