Wonogiri, C Java (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Friday launched the third phase of labor intensive investment program marked with the commissioning of a new textile factory of PT Nesia Pan Pacific Clothing in Wonogiri, Central Java.

"We hope in three to four years we can see the level of competitiveness of our industry," Jokowi said.

The commissioning of the new textile factory in Wonosobo constituted a follow up of the first phase of the labor intensive investment program launched by the president in Balaraja, Tangerang, on 5 October, 2015.

Head of the capital investment coordinating Board (BKPM) Franky Sibarani said PT Nesia has built two of seven factories planned to be built in Wonogiri.

"We appreciate the role played by PT Nesia in initiating development in Wonogiri that would open new jobs and with its multiplier effect," Franky said.

The commissioning of the factory of PT Nesia took place at the same time with the launch of the labor intensive investment program with focuses in Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and Papua expected to create 11,727 new jobs.

Ten companies taking part in the program include PT. Graha Alam Lestari, PT. Sukses Mantap Sejahtera, PT. Lombok Energy Dynamics, PT. Shang Che Garamindo, PT. Batutua Tembaga Raya, PT. Megah Surya Pertiwi, PT. Nabire Baru, dan PT. ANJ Agri Papua, PT. Bio Inti Agrindo and PT. Shambhala Payangan. (*)
