Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is preparing several action plans for developing the logistics sector, which is still reeling under the impacts of high transportation costs to various regions of the country.

"We are planning to establish a formal institution to develop human resources in the domestic logistics sector," Kadin Deputy Chairman for the logistics sector Rico Rustombi remarked while opening the National Logistics System Workshop here on Monday.

Rustombi emphasized that it was important to establish the formal institution to develop human resources in the supply chain management.

He noted that another plan of action was to support advocacy based on the study and monitoring or supervision of the implementation of government policies in the field of logistics.

"We will conduct a survey of the Logistics Performance Index in order to measure the efficiency of the national logistics performance," he noted.

Rustombi stated that Kadin is also expected to have a permanent agenda for the logistics sector, which is discussed transparently and constructively through an open dialog held at least twice a year with businesses, logistics service providers, and governments.(*)
