Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Paul Grigson visited the office of Jakarta Transportation (PT Transjakarta) in East Jakarta on Thursday.

Grigson was accompanied by Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) during the visit to the control room of PT Transjakarta that lasted for about an hour.

Governor Ahok stated that the Australian ambassadors visit was related to the assistance provided by Australia via the Indonesia Infrastructure Initiative (Indi), which comes under the auspices of the Australian Aid to Transjakarta.

"Australia had earlier provided assistance to PT Transjakarta. Now, the ambassador would like to see how the assistance is being used. Therefore, I accompanied him to visit the Transjakarta office," Basuki affirmed.

According to the governor, the assistance offered by the Australian government has been utilized for the construction of a building and pool at the Transjakarta park and ride facility in Ragunan.

"Of course, we are grateful. We have used all the assistance to build various facilities. Since the construction has been completed, the Australian ambassador now wants to review it directly," Basuki noted.

In the meantime, Grigson revealed that the aid was granted to renovate and improve the transport infrastructure in Jakarta.

"We are very pleased to have the opportunity to be part of this project. We think it will be necessary for Jakartas economy, mainly to renovate and improve the infrastructure that can help increase the mobility of the people in Jakarta," Grigson added.(*)
