"Amid the free market era, the national industry should be able to compete."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Industry Minister Saleh Husin has encouraged the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) to constantly contribute to developing and boosting the competitiveness of the national industry by reinforcing synergy with the government.
"Amid the free market era, the national industry should be able to compete. Therefore, Apindo needs to reinforce synergy with the government through the implementation of various programs and policies," the minister remarked in a press statement here on Friday.
While opening the Apindo National Working Meeting and Consultation on Friday in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Husin explained that the nations industry had until now achieved significant progress, and the non-oil processing industry was able to grow and develop amid the national and global economic turmoil.
In the midst of the gloomy national economy in 2015, the non-oil and gas processing industry was able to grow at 5.04 percent, higher than the overall economic growth of 4.79 percent during the same period.
Husin pointed out that based on data from the World Bank for the 2012-2016 period, ease of doing business in Indonesia had continued to increase.
"This indicates that it had become easier to start a business in Indonesia due to the various policies and bureaucratic reforms being implemented to attract investors," he pointed out.
According to Husin, the ease of doing business included simplification of licensing and increased ease of access to credit and payment of taxes.
