Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Entikong customs officers foiled an attempt to smuggle 5.15 kg of crystal methamphetamine from Malaysia into West Kalimantan.

The contraband was caught on Sunday (May 1) at 11 a.m. local time at the Entikong border checkpoint in Sanggau District, Head of the West Kalimantan customs and excise office Syaifullah Nasution said here on Tuesday.

The meth was hidden inside the "Eva" public bus QAV 7552 from Kucing, Malaysia, to Pontianak.

The local authorities arrested JBS (driver) and MRA (back-up driver), both Malaysian citizens, and FDS, a driver who is an Indonesian national.

The police later detained KS as he turned out to be the person who had ordered the meth, while MS, the Indonesian citizen, had collected the drugs at the Sungai Ambawang Bus Terminal.

Some 51,500 Indonesians were saved, thanks to the successful foiling of the smuggling attempt, Nasution said.
