Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Fuel oil consumption is expected to increase by some 10 percent due to the long weekend falling on May 5-8.

Vice President Corporate Communications of state-owned oil company PT Pertamina Wianda Pusponegoro stated in a press release received here on Friday that on regular days, the sale of regular Premium gasoline reached 72 thousand kiloliters, while diesel oil consumption was recorded at 35 thousand kiloliters, and aircraft fuel at 13 thousand kiloliters.

"The 10 percent hike is expected to occur as several people will be travelling to enjoy the long weekend," she noted.

To anticipate the situation, Pusponegoro noted that Pertamina had issued instructions to all filling stations to take the delivery order of a larger than normal quantity from May 1.

She explained that Pertamina had increased its stock of special fuel, for instance, Pertamax fuel oil, from some 290 thousand kiloliters to 330 thousand kiloliters.

"We see increased stocks of the Pertamax Series and also Pertalite, which are needed as the consumption is higher, moreover, during a holiday. For instance, the daily consumption of Pertalite has now reached some eight thousand kiloliters, while that of the Pertamax Series has surpassed the highest level of some 13 thousand kiloliters," she revealed.

Currently, the supply of Pertaminas fuel oil, on an average, will suffice for 24 days, with Premium stocks sufficient for 19 days; diesel fuel, 30 days; Pertamax gasoline, 24 days; and aircraft fuel, 23 days.
